How to be the Main Character

If you’re on Tik Tok, it’s pretty likely that you’ve seen a video about being the “main character.” So, what does this mean exactly? While some people may define it as being self-obsessed or self-centered, I like to think of it as a term that describes someone who owns their own life experiences, goes out and has fun, makes the most out of what they have, and lastly, they live their life to have no regrets. So, here are some tips to get you started!

1. First off, you need an awesome playlist to get you dancing and hyped up.

2. Take time for yourself.

While being with other people is a great way to have fun and be the main character, it’s important to make sure that you are taking time for yourself to recharge. Doing this also helps you get to know yourself better.

3. ​Get crafty and creative.

This is pretty self-explanatory. The benefits of being creative are basically endless: it reduces anxiety, promotes self-expression, and is just plain fun. Doing it with some friends can make it even better. For some ideas of what to do, I recommend starting with some basic drawing, chalk art, or vision board making. 4. Get Messy.

Whether you’re having a paint water balloon fight, falling in the mud, or playing paint twister, getting messy is super fun, satisfying, and a great thing to do with friends. It’s important to let go of cleanliness for a bit and enjoy it, like a lot of us did when we were kids.

5. Manifest your goals and aspirations.

6. Be spontaneous.

While some things require planning, sometimes the most fun comes from going with the flow and just saying “yes.”

7. Watch the stars, the clouds, the sunset, and the sunrise.

Nature is beautiful and really extraordinary. Although with light pollution, it can be hard to see the stars, when you are in a space where stars are visible, look up and appreciate the look into the universe. Try to see what constellations you can find.

8. Get active.

Everyone knows exercise is good for you, physically and mentally. But sometimes doing an ab workout in your basement can be hard, and doing this can make you not want to exercise. Try to find some fun ways to get active. Dance in the rain, swim in the ocean, go on a hike, etc. but try to get outside!

9. Stop worrying about what other people think.

If you're not going to dance because you're embarrassed that other people will think your lame, then you're not going to be having as much fun. So, sing along even if you don’t have a pretty voice, dance even if you think you can’t, think about what you want, and don’t worry about what other people will think about it.

10. Lastly, it’s super important to remember that not every day is going to be a good day. We don’t live in a movie universe where there’s always something exciting happening. But regardless, even though not every day is good, remember that there is always a little bit of good in every day. Try to find it :)
