V Cross Country
This week’s Cross Country Dragon could have received this award any week of the season. She is so conscientious and committed to the sport and to her team. Now our season winds to a close, and it’s time to honor Maya Vuchic for her extraordinary work in cross country. She has been our number two runner all fall. She has attended every single practice, from August 19 until the present. She has guided younger runners and those new to the sport while aiding us coaches in our attempts, some days, to herd cats. Maya is the anchor of this team, not only for her work ethic and talent as a runner, but for her leadership and kindness to everyone. Congratulations, Maya!
V Field Hockey
Hannah Abere and Hope Malloy
The Varsity Field Hockey Dragons of the Week are Hannah Abere and Hope Malloy. Hannah has stepped into a new position at midfield and has done exceptional. She has created a cohesiveness between our midfielders and forwards in big games. Hope Malloy gives nothing but her very best at every practice and game. In our game on Monday against Mount Saint Dominic, she played outside midfield and excelled in her passing game with teammates. Congratulations Hannah and Hope!
JV Field Hockey
Grace has honed her skills this season and is hitting her stride as the season comes to a close. She works hard during practice and has raised her level of play and of the players around her. Her work ethic and dedication this season is a tribute to her character. Congratulations Grace!
The soccer team’s Dragon of the Week is sophomore Peyton Nichols. Peyton has been a huge asset to the team this season. She comes to every practice with energy and enthusiasm and works extremely hard to continue to improve. She has played a number of positions this season, and in the second half of the season we have asked her to play a defensive center midfielder role. She is often given the task of marking our opponent’s top player. She has been exceptional in that position, and was a big part of our recent five game winning streak. Peyton has a great attitude, and her confidence and skill on the field help make everyone better. Congratulations Peyton!
Clare is a very versatile player whose pleasant demeanor is accompanied with strong and aggressive style. She has recently found her sweet spot as a defensive winger. Clare's skills and field confidence have grown throughout the season as each game has become a new milestone for her. Clare exceeds in sportsmanship, always offering a helping hand and smile. She is kind and respectful to her teammates, opponents, and the officials. Keep up the good work Clare!
Eliza Lox and Serena Lee
JV tennis Dragons of the Week go to Eliza Lox and Serena Lee. These two are always playing tough on the court five, chasing every ball and giving one hundred percent effort on each shot. Serena is always consistent with her topspin forehand and Eliza can get to the ball every single time! During the match against Blair Academy in cold and windy conditions, they still showed their strong attributes. Consistency and perseverance are great words to describe these girls. Congrats on the 6-2, 6-3 win over Blair Academy and for having a successful season!
Varsity Volleyball Dragon of the Week is Gabie Vicens. Although Gabie is not a normal starter, she is always prepared. She cheers on the bench and gives it her all in the game. Gabie is second in assists on the team during games. Thank you so much for your devotion to the team!
