3/25/24 Announcements

Ms. Murphy’s Weekly Announcements: here

DEIB Student Task Force

The DEIB Student Task Force application is going live today! The DEIB Student Task Force is a group of Upper School students who work to facilitate DEIB conversations within the Upper School community, and we are looking for 2 current 9th or 10th graders to join. It’s a great opportunity, so please be sure to apply if interested! The application window will close Friday, April 5.

Mock Trial

During Spring Break, the Kent Place Mock Trial team competed at regional playoffs and won, making them Central region champs for the first time in Kent Place History! They went on to compete at Semifinals and ended up ranking 3rd in the State (out of 215 teams)! A huge thank you to everyone on the team, especially those who had to learn new roles last-minute for competition.

Athletics Association

Athletics Association is starting the annual March Madness bracket competition for March Madness Sweet 16! We will send out a form with the teams as soon as they are out, and you can submit guesses for who you think will win each competition bracket. The winner will receive a prize for their advisory!

Green Key

A reminder that the second Green Key Revisit Day is this Wednesday, 3/27! If you are a Green Key member, please check your email for any assignments you may have received. For everyone else, please remember to be friendly and helpful to any visitors you may see!

Hackathon Committee

This is a reminder about the fourth annual MakeKPS Hackathon, which will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. (If you have another commitment but are still interested in the event, you can attend the Hackathon for part of the day.) During the Hackathon, participants create code projects in a team or individually. The event will also include multiple guest speakers, including college students and professionals in computer science and engineering who will talk about their journey, interests, and expertise. Participants can also attend workshops on data science, machine learning, Arduinos, and more. Anyone is welcome, from beginners to experienced coders. Please fill out this form to sign up!

Student Affairs

Anything But A Backpack day will be this Thursday, 3/28! Some past examples have included gym bags, strollers, and even mini cars, so feel free to get creative!

Kaleidoscopes

Our next Kaleidoscopes meeting will be this Wednesday 3/27 from 3:45-4:45 in the Annex! We will be discussing several celebrations that occur during this month, including Ramadan, Holi, Easter, and Women’s History Month.
