Friday, 12/7/17 (A Week)

 

Diversity Council:

Diversity Council will be having a meeting during Club/Break! Zarah Bari will be presenting about Islam and we will have a discussion about stereotypes surrounding terrorism and Islam. Everyone is welcomed to come!

 

Ice Hockey:

Ice Hockey announces the results of their games and that they have games Friday and Tuesday!

 

Sophie Huttner:

Snowmen due by Monday - please bring in your gift! Drop off is by the table outside Ms. Woodall’s office.

 

JSA:

Today JSA has a meeting! We will be discussing current political events as well as sharing information about our next conference, Winter Congress.

 

SocCom:

Cookiegram payment in lounges through Monday.

 

Basketball:

Basketball Scrimmage Last Saturday: Beat Livingston
Basketball Scrimmage Past Tuesday: Beat Rahway 38-32
Basketball Scrimmage on Saturday: It is a home game at 10 am and we are playing Dunellen

 

Mock Trial:

Practice tomorrow in the library from 9:30-12:00. If you are not able to attend, please email Kate, Jacqueline, and Mr. Morey.

 

Ambassadors:

Ambassadors will be stuffing the envelopes on Tuesday 12/12 in the Mabie House for the sweatshirt calendar

 

Swimming:

Chlorine dragz had our first two meets this week. Unfortunately, we lost both of them - the first to Scotch Plains/Fanwood (#5 in the state) and then to Westfield (#15 in the state). BUT, we are winning the meet against Plainfield, 4:00 at Fairleigh Dickinson University next Tuesday!

Monday, 12/11/17 (B Week)

 

 

Star: Please remember to get your belongings together for Star: white turtleneck, black skirt with opaque tights or black dress pants.

 

STAR- Summit Teens Against Racism will be hosting an overnight retreat under Ms. Bhatt's Organization, ROOTS. This retreat will serve as an opportunity for students to engage in fruitful discussions in an intimate environment with other students who are just as passionate about issues of social justice. After the weekend retreat, the 32 participants will meet for a 4-hour session that will be dedicated to developing strategies on creating their respective growth plans. It is open to the entire Upper School, and Yves and Ms. Dwyer sent out more information.

 

Ice Hockey: Ice Hockey won their game against Summit on Friday, December 8th. On Tuesday (December 12th), they have a game against Pingry at Bridgewater Sports Arena at 3:50 P.M. Come out to support if you can!

Judiciary:

Anyone who is pointless and proud is allowed to take one snack from the tiled area! If you are not pointless and proud, please abide by the honor code and do not take any snacks. Congratulations on not getting any minors. Keep up the good work!

 

Girls Who Code:

It is Computer Science Education Week!

Environmental Club:

Environmental Club will be having a meeting this Friday, and we will be learning how to wrap holiday gifts in environmentally friendly ways (i.e. newspaper). So please remember to bring something to wrap on Friday.

Mock trial had a scrimmage against Seton Hall Prep on Wednesday, and we did well. Mock Trial this weekend in the library from 9:30 to 12!

Community Service

The Community Service Committee is excited to welcome guest speaker, Jerry Harris, from Color-A-Smile to our committee meeting today! In addition, we plan to talk more about the Secret Snowman Gift Exchange. Everyone is welcomed to come during Committee Block!

 

Teen Programs at the Met

Saturday Sketching, Art Explore and Teen Studio are all available during weekends in the afternoon. Sign up is encouraged beforehand. Ruthie Laurence will be a volunteer throughout January and February. Reach out to her if you have any questions.
