4/14/23 Announcements

Ms. Murphy’s Weekly Announcements: here

Ms. Hager

I’m here to inform everyone about a new system of scheduling PE hours next year. As you know, PE is a graduation requirement and 2 hours of PE a week are required. Starting next year, PE will be a formally scheduled block during school hours. AM PE will still be an option, but you will have to complete an add/drop form in order to do so. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have!

Ms. Murphy

As the weather gets warmer, I’d like to remind you that you need to stay within the dress code. Starting on Monday, 4/17, any dress code infractions will receive an automatic major. Seniors may start wearing their college sweatshirts now, but this privilege will be revoked if the dress code continues to be disregarded. Additionally, I’m disappointed at the behavior I saw at yesterday’s assembly. Next time a speaker comes in, please be respectful and attentive.

Athletic Association

Congratulations to Sophia G., who correctly predicted every March Madness bracket and won our competition! Also, get ready for the schoolwide dodgeball tournament, which will take place next Friday from 2:30-3:30 in the Field House. Everyone is required to participate or support. You can earn PE credit for the tournament, but you must participate in order to do so. Click here to access the rules!

Arab American Heritage Month

Ms. Cohen read the poem “Another Planet” by the Iraqi poet Dunya Mikhail. You can find it here!

GSA

The GSA leaders spoke about the significance of Day of Silence, a day where some students take a vow of silence to draw attention to how LGBTQ+ voices are often silenced in schools.

Ballast

We’re excited to announce our new April Fools issue, which we are starting to distribute!

Music For Change

A reminder that Music For Change will be held on Wednesday, April 19 after the Choral Showcase. We have so many talented performers who are excited to share their pieces with you, so please come out to support if you can!

JSA

After the success of our last Night of Deliberation, we’ve decided to hold another one on Wednesday, 4/26! Admission is $10 and we will have plenty of snacks, so please consider attending.
