Kent Place Traditions: Year Overview

September:

Get excited for trips during the week of September 9th! 9th graders have a fun bonding day with seniors on Thursday and travel to Camp Nyoda on Friday for more bonding! Sophomores get to travel to Camp Johnsonburg for their Sophomore Special. The city of Philadelphia welcomes the junior class to explore Independence Hall and enjoy a fun dinner cruise on the Delaware River. Finally, seniors get to enjoy their day off on Friday!

“The cruise was such a fun way to bond with my grade.” -Sophia Famular, 11

October:

“Cider and Donuts” is a Kent Place Tradition that will happen in October this year. Come to the Great Room to enjoy some fall treats and hang out with the whole Upper School!

November:

The week after Halloween means SPIRIT WEEK! Students get to dress up and decorate their lounges according to different themes created by Student Affairs. Throughout the week, get ready for competitive games between grades such as Cosmic Bowl and minute-to-win-it challenges. Make sure your grade has the most spirit to win points throughout the week! Also, get excited for your first-well deserved break at the end of the month.

December:

STAR is the Kent Place winter concert that involves the whole Upper School. Throughout the month of December, break out your singing voices and dust off your instruments to join the Upper School in rehearsals. After a magical night filled with fake candles and bare feet, come to school in pajamas the next day to watch a movie and prepare for Winter Break!

January:

Although snow days aren’t special to Kent Place, they are still enjoyed by all students during the month of January. Pull up the snow day calculator and hope that a snow storm will grant us a couple deserved days off!

February:

Mardi Gras happens during the month of February. During this holiday, Student Affairs holds an introduction ceremony with the princesses from each grade and competitive games between grades such as musical chairs. At lunch, eat your piece of King Cake carefully with your advisory and hope to receive the plastic baby so you can become a princess next year!

“My favorite part of Mardi Gras is the blindfolded dance competition because people's’ true dance moves come out!” -Claire Bryant, Vice President of Student Affairs

March:

During two weeks of March, Kent Place has Spring Break! Kick back and relax during these well-deserved days off.

May:

At the end of May, Kent Place holds a semi-formal dance for the lowerclassmen and Prom for the upperclassmen. Get excited for a fun night of dancing and making memories with your friends!

June:

June brings the end of school! Enjoy fun end of year traditions such as Step Sing. During Step Sing, each grade prepares a happy and sad song to sing to the seniors. Break out the tissues for this classic Kent Place event.
