Mrs. Murphy's Weekly Updates: here

Club Schedule: here

Mrs. Murphy

Testing protocols: everyone that will be in school will need to go, at 1pm (now conference, clubs are now at 8:15), to your advisor's room to pick up your testing kit. If you are currently remote you can pick up a testing kit between 7am-8pm tomorrow.

During free time you need to be six feet apart while indoors/outdoors and are allowed to go outside during the break block. The limit in the lounge is ten people so do not go over that.

Ms. Hager

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 18, 2021, is the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities (from AmeriCorps and NationalService.gov). KPS will honor MLK and his legacy for service, nonviolent protest and justice for all in a series of events over the next week listed on this document. We will be having cake during lunch on Jan 14. Faculty have been asked to lighten the homework load over the weekend to give you time to either attend live or watch a designated recording. During block see next Wednesday we will be having a discussion time to reflect on the Monday activity and time to reflect about current events.

US VP Elections

Hey Everyone! I hope that you are all doing well. It is that time of year where we begin our mid-year Committee VP elections. VP positions are open to both juniors and sophomores who are interested. If you are interested in running at ALL, please email me (kwono21@kentplace.org) and I will forward along some information about the role of the VP and a petition form. If you are certain you are going to run, you must email me (kwono21@kentplace.org) of your intent to run no later than Friday, January 22nd at 3:30pm. Petitions are due to Mrs. Murphy by Wednesday, January 27th by 8:15. Election speeches will be videotaped and anyone who plans on running will need to attend a candidates' workshop with Mrs. Murphy. Elections will take place during the Committees block on Friday, January 29th. I will be sending all of this information out in an email but in the meantime, if you are interested, feel free to seek out current VPs and Presidents.

Mrs. Smith

As a follow up to our recent Max Stossel discussion, the Upper School will be putting together a Focus Group to discuss how to support healthy practices related to social media and technology usage for our KPS community. If you are interested in participating, Mrs. Smith will be sending out a Google Form today! If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Smith.
